How Your Comments on the Draft Programmatic EIS Were Used

The BLM sought information and comments on the analysis of potential impacts of wind energy development on public lands discussed in the Draft Programmatic EIS and on the assessment of the management alternatives, in terms of their effectiveness at mitigating potential impacts and facilitating wind energy development. In particular, the BLM sought comments on the conclusion that the proposed action appears to provide the best approach for managing wind energy development on BLM-administered lands. The BLM also sought additional data or information that would improve the analysis in the Draft Programmatic EIS. Public comments on the Draft Programmatic EIS were taken into consideration during preparation of the Final Programmatic EIS.

How Your Scoping Comments Were Used

The public scoping comment period, the first major public involvement opportunity, closed Dec. 19, 2003. Public scoping comments were taken into consideration to help determine the scope of the Wind Energy Programmatic EIS. They also helped identify issues that are of particular concern to the public.
